One of the Most Beautiful Dance Photo Shoots - Powder

November 05, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

Using our favorite dancer my niece, this time we shot her doing her terrific dance moves with powder.  I just love how these photos came out especially for our first time doing it.

The Setup

  1.  2 x Flashpoint eVOLV 200 TTL - No Modifiers just using the Fresnel Speedlight adapter.  These were place behind the dancer to highlight the powder.
  2. 1 - 7" Gridded Reflector Flashpoint XPLOR 600 HSS TTL as the main light source in front to camera right
  3. 1 Large black plastic drape from Home Depot 10' by 25'
  4. 1 box of Flour from Shoprite

Camera Gear Used

  • Canon 5D Mark III
  • 24-70 f2.8 L II
  • Flashpoint R2 TTL 2.4G Wireless HSS Transmitter

The back flashes were in manual mode and set at half power.  The main light also in manual mode set to full power.  When shooting I had the shutter speed very high at about 2500 to kill as much ambient light and to freeze motion.  ISO at 100 and at F2.8 and away we go.  Here are some of the photos we took - what are your thoughts?
